A thread for #UFOTwitter: It’s really not that hard to believe in “aliens” interacting with us, especially from the ultra terrestrial (earth-based beings) perspective. Think about this as if you’re a gorilla. 
There you are, living in a jungle, and suddenly you feel a sting in your side. You quickly feel very sleepy. The next moments are a blur of strange noises and feelings of being moved around, but you don’t know who or what is doing this to you.
When you wake, you find yourself in a strange container made of a material unlike anything you’ve ever seen or felt. It’s solid. You can’t scratch it or bite chunks out of it to try to escape. When you hit it, it hurts your hand worse than anything you’ve ever experienced.
Finally the movement stops and the container opens on one end. You’re confused because a moment ago it was completely solid and now it’s open. Beyond the opening you see your old home. But...different. The trees and plants are there but not quite the same.
There are no other beings like you there. You leave the container and begin to explore, but you find that you’re now limited to a specific area. Everything beyond that is an impenetrable wall with a moat between the wall and your new home.
And then you see them. They look kind of like you, but something is strange. They have no hair, except on their heads. Some, the bigger ones, have it on their faces. Many of the smaller ones with smoother features have longer hair on their heads than the bigger ones.
More of them arrive in another area that you didn’t notice before. It appears to have an opening you could walk right through, so you move closer in anticipation of escape. The beings stand at the opening as if anticipating your arrival there.
You move faster to try to scare them into moving out of the way. Closer and closer. And then it hits you. Really hits you. Just as you’re about to cross the threshold into the open area, your face and body smack into something hard.
You’re stunned, dazed, confused. You can clearly see a way out but no matter how hard you try, you cannot move past some invisible barrier. It has a kind of shine to it where you can see another one of you in it looking back at you. He’s there, but not fully.
Hours later, angry and exhausted, you retire to the furthermost part of this strange land. Images fill your mind of the strange, smooth, small faces just beyond the barrier just staring at you and excitedly gesturing to you and each other.
You don’t know what to make of them. It’s aggravating and exhilarating at the same time.
Years pass. The beings provide a mate. You produce offspring. The offspring grow, but he is different. You deduce that it has something to do with the fact that your child periodically went with the beings for a time and was returned to you.
But with each return, the child is doing something with his hands while looking at you. Some motions are as if he’s putting food in his mouth. Others are opening his palm and moving it back and forth. Many other gestures are hard to comprehend.
One day, after a few more years of this, you begin to understand. Your child is speaking to you with these new and strange motions. In that sense, they’re not unlike the ways you communicated back home. But these are new motions with new meanings.
You begin to duplicate the same motion. First out of anger and frustration. But slowly they begin to make sense. Hand to mouth means food. An open, waving hand is a friendly greeting.
Soon the Smooth Beings begin making the same signs to you. You make them back. New things happen that are related to the signs you make to each other. The pieces start to fall into place. They are not small smooth apes like you.
They are beings from another world. A world with fascinating materials and technologies that can remove an ape from his home, put him in a new home that simulates his old home, and begin communicating.
Obviously this is not a direct, one-to-one description of our reality. But if we begin to see The Others as our on-world cousins, who just happened to have experienced a different spur of development that advanced them far ahead of us, it’s not that difficult to accept.
What if their ancestors had an extinction level event millions of years ago that drove them underground, under the ocean, out into the solar system, or into a parallel world or dimension?
What if they later emerged after a few million more to find similar but more primitive beings roaming the remains of their old home? And what if they decided, for whatever reason, to remain distant and only interact when necessary or to study them?
And, finally, what if their replacements began doing things that threatened the existence of both, so the former began to intervene with the latter more directly and frequently, with a plan to eventually come out into the open permanently?
