The outcome of the trial was always a forgone conclusion.
So the question was whether it was worth the time/trouble/etc to give America an even longer illustration of just how f**ked up the GOP is.
Personally, I am in favor of that.
But one could easily argue the opposite.

If Democrats actually get covid relief and vaccinations done soon and the economy comes charging back they will look like geniuses by 2022 and nobody will even remember this impeachment stuff.

Whenever Dems want to brand the GOP they can just play video footage of the capitol invasion and everyone will remember.

Trump was always going to get off on impeachment.
