I love Tom but he isn’t the greatest athlete of all time. Serena Williams is here’s why....
Tom plays a team sport. Meaning his greatness is tied to everyone on the team. He can’t succeed if those around him succeed. No matter what he does others must contribute in order for him to succeed.
In order for him to complete a pass multiple things must happen. Multiple people must make it possible. When no one is open he gets sacked. If the line doesn’t block he cannot accomplish anything that he attempts. It literally takes everyone.
And championships in team sports requires several people to perform. The defense. The kicker. The receiver. The coaches etc. however Serena on the other hand must perform on an island.
Serena depends on no one but herself when performing. When she loses the loss is isolated. Solely on her. If Tom loses one can point the finger at multiple things for blame. Just look at mahomes. Line didn’t block WR dropped the ball etc. mahomes couldn’t be great unless those
Around him perform. Tom is the greatest QB of all time. But when we’re talking about individual athlete no one is greater than Serena Williams. Not Michael Jordan not Lebron James no one!
Serena has 23 Grand Slam singles titles. 23. 23 times she’s showed up and performed on an island to win championships.
In team sports guys need other great players around them to win. Jordan had Pippen and Rodman. You literally can’t do it alone in a team sport no matter how great you are as an individual. Serena doesn’t need anyone. It’s one on one.
People over look women’s sports and women athletes. Athlete is an athlete. Especially on pro level everyone competing is the highest and most talented in that sport. Only the best.
