imo there is very possibly a non-transphobic explanation as to why they put this question in, so anyone ticking the "female" box can just be told whatever's wrong with them is probably just ~hormones~ and to call 999 if your head has fallen off https://twitter.com/christineburns/status/1360537496912859136
This, I think, is something the bigot brigade do not understand the medical establishment: if you lead on your (assumed) anatomy, you just get a diagnosis of take two paracetomol, it's probably fine, chill your hormonal tits.
And the only clinically relevant thing gained from only asking your assigned sex and age is that you've got an easy-peasy dismissal of anything
Aged 10-16? Puberty, two paracetomol and stfu
Aged 16-40? Period, two paracetomol and stfu
Aged 40+? Menopause, two paracetomol and stfu
It's a bafflingly pointless box. Ticking the "female" box and being told you've probably got fibroids is a pointless exercise if you've had a hysterectomy. Ticking "male" and being told it's probably testicular torsion is a pointless exercise if you're a trans woman who had GRS.
Essentially, there is very little clinically useful information you can get from simply asking about assigned sex, and but it can very easily be used to ignore and dismiss someone's medical problems, so basically, it's a shitty question.
