I'll repeat this once more for those in the cheap seats because you don't seem to have heard me yet:

1) impeachment is a political process
2) Democrats unanimously voted to acquit Clinton even though several admitted on record his actions were worthy of impeachment
3) Democrats based their votes on political calculus
4) GOP elected officials and voters well remember #2 and #3
4) impeachment remains a political process
5) you have to be daft to pretend the votes will be based on anything except political calculus once again
6) all your arguments about cowardice, or courage, or doing what's right/wrong are all stupid and irrelevant because it misses the big picture entirely
7) the big picture is that everyone in DC is motivated by things that keep them in office, period
addendum:

8) the first impeachment was complete and utter bovine excrement based on nothing but vaporware and lies
9) if you don't think that that show trial isn't impacting this one, you're fooling no one but yourselves
You will note that I have made no arguments about what's right or wrong. I'm merely observing what has happened, what is happening, and what will happen i.e. no conviction. I've also mentioned why it will happen. Yet you persist in frivolous arguments.
Okay, let me rephrase. Your arguments are irrelevant because they ignore reality. I wish things were otherwise, but DC politicians care about no one but themselves and about nothing except empowering and enriching themselves.
Once you acknowledge that, every action becomes predictable with a high degree of certainty.
