. @SenatorWarnock just told us reporters “I think it’s an important way to her her testimony,” regarding calling Herrera Beutler as a witness or entering her statement onto the record
So that’s done. Both sides agreed to enter Herrera-Beutler’s statement onto the record as testimony. It was read out loud and now we are moving on with closing arguments.
The Senate is getting ready to take its vote on the article of impeachment. Stay tuned for the outcome but in the meantime, Trump's attorneys mentioned Julian Bond's Supreme Court case as a reason why Trump can't be tried since he is out of office (cont'd)
The House impeachment managers said it doesn't apply to Trump because Trump was impeached for conduct while in office. Bond was being held out of the General Assembly for comments made prior to being elected, which is why the Supreme Court said it was improper
Both of Georgia’s senators, @SenatorWarnock & @SenOssoff, voted with Democrats to convict Trump. A handful of Republicans also voted to convict but far short of number needed to get to 2/3
