I've seen a lot of women who have rallied in solidarity as Av* spins up his more and more public self-aggrandizement and abusiveness...clearly in support of his book.

I wish departments, publishers, show bookers... All y'all are complicit in this. Encouraging and allowing this.

He isn't even the *first* senior physicist to tantrum to get coverage and support for his book, by trying to score points by attacking folks who are jr, or minorities in some way, or both.

I guess what I'm saying is I've got a real short fuse for a lot of reasons, and our field and our community are culpable for acting like any of this behavior is ever anything more than abuse.

Kindness, humanity, humility... These things do not diminish your intelligence or your work.

Stop enabling abusers.

I will also add.. this is not pure old white guy territory. Women are not immune from punching down or miswielding power. @IBJIYONGI tweeted this morning about issues in NSBP.

We need to shift and hold ourselves and our community accountable.

I will tip my hat to the folks in the astrobio community who are working behind the scenes to push the creaking wheels of accountability into motion.
