The gun lobby and their allies in the #inlegis misrepresented @momsdemand volunteers with misogynistic tropes of “emotional” women after we brought facts they didn’t like.

So let’s go over the facts of gun violence in Indiana, one more time with the latest numbers. Emotion free
📣 Guns are the leading cause of death among children and teens in Indiana. In Indiana, an average of 95 children and teens die by guns every year, and 62% of these deaths are homicides.

(In the US, 58% of all gun deaths among children and teens are homicides.)
📣 In an average year, 959 people die and 1,654 are wounded by guns in Indiana. Indiana has the 24th-highest rate of gun violence in the US.
📣 In Indiana, the rate of gun deaths increased 30% from 2010 to 2019, compared to a 17% increase nationwide.

📣The rate of gun suicides increased 19% and gun homicides increased 57%, compared to a 13% increase and 26% increase nationwide, respectively.
📣 Indiana has the 22nd-highest societal cost of gun violence in the US at $993 per person each year. Gun deaths and injuries cost Indiana $7 billion, of which $300 million is paid by taxpayers.
📣 Of that $7 billion: Gun homicides, assaults, and police shootings cost Indiana $3.1 billion each year.

Those are the facts. Emotion free. Now, tell us, how does giving everyone a free pass on permits make any of these numbers go the other direction?
If you agree this is the wrong direction for Hoosiers and live in Indiana, we need you to help. Call your Representative today (leave a message) and tell them to vote no on HB 1369. Thank you! ❤️
