If you've noticed your food prices rising that's because we've seen a historic amount of demand for crops, and droughts that have decreased aggregate yields. The combination of increasing population and climate change altering weather is a big problem for food security long term.
Food security is an issue that's set to worsen over time unless we take immediate action to change our agricultural systems and how we treat our planet as a whole. The biggest strain agriculture imposes is from animal farming which uses the most land, water, and other resources.
Aside from animal farming, the crops that feed animals impose an enormous resource strain as we grow more crops to feed farmed animals than to feed humans. By taking meat and in particular beef off of our plate we can do our part to reduce the enormous footprint we leave behind.
Animal farming has also hastened the sixth mass extinction as it is by far the largest cause for land clearing and wildlife destruction. 83% of all wildlife on Earth had been eliminated by humanity. This food web collapse threatens our very existence and has to be stopped.
We also see the feedback loop forming here as animal farming is a leading cause of climate change, and climate change is harming farming. By removing animal exploitation from our diet and lifestyle we can reduce cruelty and also improve our planet for those who come next.
We can also reduce environmental and climate racism by eliminating animal exploitation from our diet. Factory farms and even smaller farms are known to pollute and exploit communities of color. Mistreatment of employees is systemic. Many are injured or even killed on the job.
There are so many reasons to consider a vegan lifestyle. Think of our Mother Earth and her many inhabitants, including future human generations. Make the right choice for everyone and go vegan. 💚🌱✨
