I have so many thoughts on this. We absolutely should hold the offenders accountable for their wrongdoings towards Dr.Dennar. I certainly expect and demand full transparency and questions answered as a current medical student at Tulane. However, I would not be doing my community https://twitter.com/londyloo/status/1360445709242294275
justice if I remained silent on this particular notion that students of color should consider not ranking their particular Tulane residency or withdrawing their medical school application. My city is still very much Black, and it still very much needs us. I’d also be remiss not
to mention the incredibly hard work that many individuals in this very same institution have put into increasing the people of color, specifically in the medical school. The efforts to improve diversity and create a culture of inclusivity shouldn’t be laid to waste by the
wrongdoing of others. To suggest that we should not apply or rank Tulane ultimately gives anti-blackness, sexism, and racism “the W” in my honest opinion. Let’s focus on the matter at hand and not indirectly place the burden on current Black students and potential applicants.
Let me be clear once again, we demand transparency, answers, and change regarding this unbelievable situation. I’m here to engage in more conversation.
