The panic and fear amongst the ranks of the PTI government in response to Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani’s nomination as a joint candidate for Senate is amusing and very telling. A thread on YRG’s candidature.
The @MediaCellPPP, @pmln_org , @juipakofficial and the democratic forces of Pakistan have reposed trust in Yusuf Raza Gillani to fight the hardest battle, and contest an election which requires a majority of the national assembly vote i.e. enough votes to send the dummy PM home.
With the selected government having not only the federal govt but govts in three provinces, unlimited state resources to buy, intimidate, threaten opponents, a media which has been under relentless attack, yet this govt trembles in fear by brining in unconstitutional ordinance.
It displays that when true democratic leader contest elections, even when the odds are stacked and hands are rigged against them, the parachuting selected puppet governments look to run and hide.
It is important for YRG to contest against the collective might of this government and allies for two reasons. First, to deal a forceful and hopefully decisive blow to the grab on power and throats of people of Pakistan by this illegitimate, incompetent and corrupt government.
Second, to restore the dignity of the houses of the people, our legislative chambers. This government has deliberated sought to discredit, insult democracy and democratic institutions by allowing trespassing clowns and crooks in them.
For Yusuf Raza Gillani and other democrats such as him, these houses are scared. These houses represent the will of the Pakistani people, they decide the destiny of the Pakistani people, they are the custodians of the Constitution.
This government is not only deeply corrupt itself, it wants to convince the world and the Pakistani people, that the people of Pakistan are corrupt and to reduce politics to tajarat and ATMs.
The people of Pakistan are not only honest, but they know how to resist fascists and thugs. Yusuf Raza Gillani was unanimously elected as Prime Minister, unanimously given a vote of confidence as PM without spending one penny.
This is why Pakistan Democratic Movement leadership has trusted Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani to discharge this heavy responsibility because he has done it in the past. YRG is an ‘Umeed’ of democratic people of Pakistan and ‘umeedwar’ of PDM.
The response and messages from members/MNAs of Parliament from all parties including government parties pledging support and welcoming this decision is humbling and also uplifting that the people of Pakistan still have faith in their democracy and respect for Parliament.
This is what scares this puppet govt.They can’t understand loyalty, solidarity and principles which are not for sale: because this selected govt wants to sell our Parliament, our country and the future of our children to the highest bidder. InshAllah we will not let this happen.
Yusuf Raza Gillani has four decades of public life of fighting the good fight, often very difficult fights, by the grace of Allah, the love of people and the strength of his convictions, he has emerged victorious.
InshAllah, he and the democratic forces of Pakistan will yet again fight with belief, love and principles against those with money, threats and intimidation. And yet again, InshAllah we will emerge victorious.
