What gets lost by non Bundesliga followers is the detailed succession planning carried out again & again to the nth degree at 🇩🇪 clubs well ahead of time. That allows clubs to sell prize assets to the highest bidder, even if it’s Bayern (which is far from every time.)
Easy to get sucked into the “they’re all just strengthening Bayern” narrative. Bayern carry huge worldwide clout and will attract the very best come what may. They will be strong. The other clubs have models which allow them to be sustainable. Planning is a huge part of that.
To spell it out for anyone confused, Leipzig have known they will lose Upamecano eventually. So the priority shifts from keeping Upamecano, to the masterplan ahead of time for when he’s gone That he goes to Bayern is less important here. Bayern will get top quality either way.
Leipzig had the plan in place a long time ago which is how they and most German clubs operate. Were it not Upamecano at Bayern next season it would be another high echelon new defender.
