/6 There are several options available to @cdspcn if they decide to develop a First Contact Physiotherapy service within their #primarycarenetwork. Here are 5 considerations #PCN CDs should take into account to support their decision making.
/6 Decide whether to adopt an employment or outsourced managed service. Understanding your @NHS_HealthEdEng ‘FCPs and APs in Primary Care’ supervision requirements & the specialist MSK clinical governance needed to deliver #bestpractice should support your decision
/6 The largest challenges #PCNs face with a direct employment model isn’t just supervision requirements, but the ability to recruit/retain #FCPs in role, and the time required to analyse the service & develop it to meet the needs of the local population
/6 If @cdspcn do decide to outsource, choose your partner carefully. Best practice should be considered to be an “in practice” & fully integrated service model which shouldn’t even feel outsourced to you, the #FCP, or to your patient population.
/6 Your service partner should also have the capabilities to support you with workforce planning, the extended hours agenda, showcase the effectiveness of their service through structured data & be able to flex capacity to meet demand (this might be through remote workforce).
/6 If choosing a 3rd party provider consider the benefit of using an organisation like @primarycareFCP who are entirely focussed and experienced in #FCP service delivery, with a primary care focus and full IT systems integration, without distractions from other service portfolios
