So *clears throat*
I was talking to an associate who I've known for a long time a few minutes ago and she was telling me how she's been interested in learning more about Hoodoo.

So we're choppin' it up and she's like "girl, I wanna really educate myself but all the information that I'm finding online is from non-black ass people and I'm not sure if I can trust it for obvious reasons.." *inserts chuckle*
...and she is absolutely correct. If you do a quick google, youtube, IG or even Pinterest search, you're going to see nothing but non-black people in the search results. There is a reason for that. I used to get upset about it until I realized why..
You have to look at a few things, one being why Hoodoo exists in the first place. Hoodoo exists for many reasons, two of the most important being a connection to home & spirituality for the enslaved Africans brought over here AND PROTECTION.
So..let's talk about protection real quick. If you created something to protect yourself, why would you want ANYTHING that you're doing to be known by the people who you are protecting yourself from? You don't.
Because of this, Hoodoo is a very oral tradition. It is passed down more often than not by word of mouth to those that come before us deem ready to be privy to the information. if you pay attention to the elders in your family, they tell certain shit to certain ppl.
Our elders were selective because they knew that even amongst family, conjure in the wrong hands is detrimental. So, if our elders are selective about who in the FAMILY they tell..you know damn well they not out here telling outsiders.
With that being said, you ARE NOT going to find a lot about Hoodoo, Rootwork and Conjure from black folks online. That's not a mistake. There is a reason why when you go to social media and type in Hoodoo, H**d** D***** pops up.
Let me rephrase that. You're not going to find a lot about AUTHENTIC Hoodoo online. Even us black practitioners who are on social media sharing info don't pull you all the way down the rabbit hole that is conjure.
You don't see us online telling you how to do this, that, and the other. There is a reason for that. That is exactly why what info I do share will be locked behind my Patreon..and there is still certain shit I won't be showing you.
Every teacher's path is different. My path is to provide the tools, physically and mentally to help you get to the next level of learning and knowledge. I am but a pit stop and I HOPE that you outgrow me one day because that means I'm doing my job.
However..what I won't be doing is sharing sacred information just all willy nilly. This is where talking to your living elders and forming a connection with your ancestors is important. Everybody's conjure is different. Learn your family's conjure. Fuck a Hoodoo Delish.
So I said all of that to say...the lil shit that you see..that actually pretty common knowledge? Not even the tip of the iceberg..and that's because that's all we'll let them have. Once YOU learn YOUR conjure, you won't need to pay them to sell YOUR Ase` back to you.
