A Cretean of Lebanon complains that their tribe does not have an official registry and does not receive any benefits like other groups (in particular Armenians) do.
Creteans in Turkey have completely assimilated into the mainstream Turkish culture+
The abandoned Muslim Quarter in Crete looks a lot like the abandoned Jewish quarters in mid-sized Turkish towns: old houses turned into hotels, restaurants and culture centers.
One could write a whole dissertation from the material in this documentary.
