(SHORT THREAD)

Generally, in a war type of stories like LotGH, the overall message can be more or less fell into "war is bad" but I always like how LotGH dive far deeper into those. Even when Reinhard argubaly won the war, his journey didn't stop there
A part of his mentality was haunting by the fact that he always grew up in a highly competitive era so when he's finally be there, above of it all, instead of satisfaction, all he feel was just a sense of emptiness of no competition, no any purpose behind those accomplishment.
Deep down, rather than peaceful era, he's more looking forward for another blood thirsty war for himself, so much of Reinhard life has been about him struggle to be the highest place except along that way, he lost two of persons that mean the most to his life through that journey
The consequence of his own ambition, rewatching LotGH is very easy to see to realize how much Reinhard lying to himself about the fact that his ambition only hurts him in a long run which he, himself even try to convince that it's for the best of himself and people around him.
because if he, the person who is there didn't proud of his own status then what else would left for him? he may be the kaiser that respect by millions but it mean nothing if two of the most important persons in his life are not there.
It doesn't change the fact that it's also merely an achievment from the blood of millions of people that he murdered. All of these life that he step on to be at the top which only return to haunting him in the last season.
By the end of it all, Reinhard realized what's truly important to him but it's also all too late, more than any of those accomplishment, there's nothing he desire more to be there with the people that he consider to be part of his family.
LotGH obviously covered a vast amount of themes, you can see every bits of that integrated into the character arcs of Yang, Reuenthal, Julian, Oberstein, etc.., Reinhard is simply one of them, a nature of human that would always exist in history that always repeat itself.
I really ran out of LotGH pic by the end of this thread..
