Lessons/thoughts from my first year as a proprietary trader:

These are opinions & thoughts from my experiences, I welcome any opposing views.

-screen time, screen time, screen time it really is everything

-I think many people think being a pro trader is a glorious life...
2/ in reality there are some good times, some dire ones; the success rate among prop traders isn’t that high. This isn’t an easy sport at any level.

-Style depends on personality, what’s comfortable or easy for one person can be the biggest point of discomfort for another
3/-Put 10 people in a room give them the same tools, same market and same basic training. Wait 6 months and you’ll see that no traders will have the same style. They may trade similarly but there will always be some differences that make them unique. This is often a huge edge.
4/ -Confidence among traders in general is a weird thing, there are times where I’ll have a strike rate over 80% for days even weeks, a big hit or even a few down days in a row and you feel as though you’ve lost your touch or ask yourself ‘what if I just got lucky?’ I’ve seen...
5/ this happen many times now myself as well as to many others

-the opposite can also happen & Is a constant reminder. Many times I’ll be in a rut for days or had a losing week, and then all of a sudden something clicks & you see ‘the matrix.’ Often this makes my month or week
