First train service in Odisha was 1896. It was somewhere between Lakshannath Road to Jaleshwar.
Part of KGP Nergundi was run before completion of Mahanadi bridge which was opened to public in 1901. In 1900, Parlakimedi Light Rail narrow gauge line between Naupada Parlakhemundi 1n
2n was opened and later extension was planned in 1929 up to Gunupur. The East Coast State Railway was a railway company which was formed in 1890. In 1902 the northern part of the line from Visakhapatnam to Khurda Road was merged with Bengal Nagpur Railway(BNR). Continued ....
The Khurda Road Puri section was opened for public on 1st February 1897. The #Mayurbhanj State Railway was opened for traffic on 20th January 1905. It was a narrow gauge line between #Baripada and Rupsa. It was converted to broad gauge in 2004.
