love is rarely a black and white situation... but i will say, based on my personal experiences. when someone’s intention is to love you just for who you are and because it feels good to simply... love you. the communication & getting on the same page aspect? is pretty easy.
i think we underestimate how much effort it actually takes to not see where someone is coming from... granted communication styles matter which is why i mentioned it’s never as simple as black and white.
but one thing is for sure, the person who wants to understand you will not stop trying to. it may take a day or two, for you to get there. but if you’re giving your 100% best trying to communicate with patience & clarity, the one that loves you will meet you there. every time.
because true love surpasses unhealthy expressions of ego. genuine love does not desire to be “right” or “not wrong” it simply, desires. if that desire is channeled towards healthy romantic expressions of love, clear communication will follow. every time.
bc in that moment, the true love realizes & decides that the most important thing to me right now, is doing whatever i can to understand what the person i am in love with is trying to communicate to me right now. they seem unhappy & i want to avoid repeating this behavior again.
being in a relationship, means being open to being taught someone who may know more than you in terms of communication or love. it means being ready to face that mirror when it’s held up to us & not always taking it as an attack but as an opportunity for our self-improvement.
love means swallowing pride, because it never got you anywhere. love means learning how to be soft. love means learning when to put yourself first & last. love is finding the balance between selfish & selfless. love is complicated. but one thing it should never be, is unwilling.
