“Nvidia has argued that the purchase price alone means it has no incentive to mess with that neutrality but some rivals and custom fast as UFC ers are unconvinced.”

Bullshit. Lying through the teeth as Hermann Hauser put it.
The $40B price tag is precisely the reason why Nvidia wants and needs to own the Arm ecosystem exclusively in the long run. How else are they going to get their ROI? Anyone who believes Arm’s licensing/royalty revenue model justifies that price tag needs to get his head checked.
In the short term though, it is in Nvidia’s interest to *pretend* to keep Arm open, so naive customers, developers, OEMs, and even licensees continue to help Jensen fortify his future walled garden, until such time it is entrenched and the switching costs become too high.
Make no mistake, Nvidia’s ambition is to become Apple, first in the datacenter, and later clients and everything adjacent. Arm ecosystem “partners” supporting this will be digging their own graves.
