Considering all the young players we have I think the right next step for the club if they want to consistently compete ASAP would be to sign some players between the ages of 25-28 to compliment the players we have.

3 players I think the club should be all over this summer👇
For the #10 role, Jack Grealish.

For the CB role, Marquinhos or Raphael Varane.

For the striker role, Romelu Lukaku or Erling Haaland(exception from the rule as he is a generational talent with a monster mentality).
It's all well and good signing young players with great potential for the future. However, if you want to win against the best teams in the world, you need a mix of that raw exciting talent and players who are at their physical and technical peaks.
That area is lacking at Chelsea at the moment. Chelsea had a great transfer window last summer BUT only one signing was between the ages of 25-28 and that was Hakim Ziyech, who came from the Eredivisie and has visibly struggled adapting himself to the Premier League.
Thiago Silva was signed at 36, Kai Havertz at 21, Timo Werner at 24 and Ben Chilwell at 23. All great players for us long-term but none of them are peaking right now. Thiago Silva is a legend of the game and an exemplary specimen but he will only be able to help us for a..
couple of years, meaning he will leave when the other players starts to somewhat approach their peak.

I'm a little worried that the club seems to be looking to go down the same route this summer. We were looking at Upamecano(21) and when we can't get him, we're...
reportedly turning our focus to Konaté(also 21). We already have Guehi and Ampadu, we don't need any more 21 year old CBs.

The oldest DM we have been linked to has been 22 years old and they're all playing in France. That's a big risk of the player never making it in..
the Premier League and even if he does, we're likely not going to see his best level for another 2-3 seasons.

We also reportedly maintain a "strong" interest in signing Jadon Sancho, a target from last summer's window. He's also 21 and IMO not a generational talent...
so in contrast to Haaland, he is not an exception from the rule. We already have Havertz(21), Pulisic(21), Hudson-Odoi(20), Mount(22), Werner(24) and Anjorin(19) in his position. We don't need another 21 year old. If you want someone else there, you sign someone...
that can make a difference RIGHT NOW, not someone who will have the same inconsistency problems as the rest of them who will "flower" at the exact same time as them. You need someone who can flower now so that when they are done at their peak, the other ones will take over.
We keep signing youngsters then there is only so much the manager can do. Expecting to compete in the PL, CL, FA Cup and Carabao Cup EVERY season won't be realistic for the next 5 years if we keep going like this.

Chelsea will have a great team in 5 years and they...
will be great FOREVER if they keep the same strategy as now BUT for the short-term they have to mix it up a little bit. Signing young players when you already have a bunch of players in their prime(like Bayern, Man City etc) is great but signing young players when you...
only have young players from beforehand is not that great. You won't challenge short-term that way.

Just look at Liverpool(2017-) Man City(2017-), Bayern(2019-) and Real Madrid(2014-2018). Did they have majority of their team aged 25 or under?
Note: I'm not saying a player's peak is from 25-28. Some players can peak from 23 while some don't peak till they are 30+. However, no one peaks at 21 unless they are exceptional and you shouldn't sign a player 30+ unless they are exceptional(Zlatan, Ronaldo, Messi, Thiago Silva)
