A few people have asked me how the photo project with some of my homeless friends is going.
Here is a brief summary:
It is tough for some homeless people at the moment. Some have been given accommodation temporarily, some are still sleeping rough.

Today has been the coldest day in a while, some days it's rained the entire day, we had a storm a few days ago, there are very few people on the streets, those who are there often don't want to approach homeless people even if they are carrying cash, & most shops are closed.
The Big Issue isn't on sale on the street at the moment, so for some their livelihood has gone. As a partial solution to this, I am paying some to take photos.
Some extremely amazing people here have also helped out. (this thread is not a request for that, just an update)

Loose guidelines:
- Try to take photos in daylight
- Try to spend less than 1hr45 taking photos, fill 1 camera in the time
- £20 per camera, 1 camera per day (ie, it ends up at least London Living Wage)
- If anything happens with the pics, they get all profits from pics they took

9 or 10 people have been involved.
1 filled a camera each day of the current lockdown.
1 about 2 per week.
1 every day, and then she died.
1 ended up in prison after a few days.
1 was robbed of some cameras (also robbed of wheelchair at one point)
the rest are sporadic but great

They mostly have my phone number, so I sometimes get calls at odd times asking if I can pick up/drop off some cameras (all done in a safe way).
Some of the photos do not come out at all.
Some are empty streets, or workmen, or birds attacking each other.

Some of the photos are of the few people you come across, out and about.
Some feel meaningful in a happy way, and some in a sadder way.

Some are snapshots (which is not a bad thing, and I take lots of those myself) but most that come out have some sort of feeling to them.
Of London, at a strange time in the world, and what it's like to live in an even more uncertain way than normal.

I've enjoyed going through the photos, and that they are enjoying taking the photos, and the work.
I'm glad it's helped some people a little bit, at a difficult time, and I'm glad it will continue to do that.
I'm sad that for some the time has been way harder than I'd imagined.

I think this is the last photo of my friend who died - just her foot, walking. She had finally been set up by one of the great charities with a longer term place. The money from the cameras helped with a deposit. The last txt I had from her was that she had 2 more cameras done.
I'll continue it, and will do something with the photos when this is all over, and hopefully get a bit more money for each of those taking the pictures.
Just a short update, but I hope of interest to some. Do share the thread if you think others might find something in it.
