Hey, all! You've probably seen me talking about @stichomancery recently. They just started a new column over at @TeenVogue, Fan Service, that's a much needed critical look into fandom. (Remember that critical doesn't always mean negative).
I've got a request!
I've got a request!
If you've been following, Stitch has been the target of a multi-year long incredibly painful harassment campaign. Luckily, Teen Vogue is standing behind Stitch, but that doesn't erase the harm this is causing them. They're spreading genuine lies and misinformation about Stitch.
I've been following Stitch for a while now. I've never seen any evidence of the harassment they say Stitch has instigated.. I've looked at the screenshots, I found the threads and read the screenshots IN CONTEXT, etc. The anti-Blackness at play here is something to behold.
If you follow me, you know that I have spoken at length about the colorism and anti-Blackness at play in a lot of POC communities. This is something happening here.
The reaction to the "Pick Me" statement is a lot like white ladies being offended at "Karen". You know it is.

If you have the energy, please block + report harassers when you find them. I trust Stitch also to be honest with themself when they've made a mistake. But also, that we are in a time when being a critic, esp. trans and/or of color, is genuinely dangerous.
We are currently actively struggling in a time when criticism and critics are being directly attacked for the valuable work they do, and are not being supported, I want you to take this seriously. This is part of an ongoing trend that will only get worse if you, also, do nothing.
And finally, here is a link to Stitch's article in Teen Vogue.
