I saw a TikTok in which a lady goes on about how about how pedophiles can now access the women’s restrooms now that Joe Biden is president. That does appear to be a transphobic remark insinuating that trans women have a tendency to be predators, but there is more to the story.

While in theory it is possible for a trans woman to prey on girls in the restroom, I believe it is far more likely for trans women to be victims of abuse and harassment.

I found this huge survey done in 2015 by the National Center for Transgender Equality. There were 27,715 respondents here, and it is considered the largest survey taken of transgender people in the United States.

They found that twelve percent of respondents reported being physically attacked, verbally harassed, and/or sexually assaulted when accessing a restroom in the year prior.

In addition, fifty-nine percent reported that in the year prior they had either sometimes or always avoided using public restrooms because they were afraid of these kinds of confrontations or other problems.
