I know I’m going on a bit about Joss Wh*don but I want people to remember he created a whole universe that spoke Mandarin for the aesthetic with no actual Asians in it.

He also used the one Asian on Buffy as a weird language joke.

I raised this issue before and some white Firefly fan sent me a blurry screenshot of an Asian in one episode.

I always sort of wondered why i never took to Firefly and later realised that it was this absence.

The sneering theft of culture detached from the people who originate it bothers me.

TBH I’m not at all invested in how they could fix or reboot stuff like Firefly.

There are people who are doing better work who need our support and I feel we’d just be patching things so Firefly fans could just go on liking it without examining it.
