Many Chinese American liberals speaking on behalf of the entire Asian community as to what a proper response to the attacks shouldn't be. They assume they are speaking up against a Chinese American political culture that is more right wing that other Asian groups. They're wrong./
There seems to be a deeply embedded assumption that Chinese Americans are the 'privileged light skin' race of the brown Asian masses. That we are wealthier, more white adjacent, and thus more conservative in outlook.

This assumption is revealing b/c it's dead wrong.
The politics of Chinese Americans tends to be more liberal than other groups inc SE Asian, and the household income tends to be less than other groups inc key SE and South Asian groups.

We hold these assumptions out of laziness and centering ourselves.
Most of the Chinese Americans I've seen calling out Asians as self-centered, white adjacent, conservative etc are just extrapolating from their own communities. Usually upper middle class, well educated, suburban. This is not representative of Chinese Americans at large.
