So lemme tell ya a "funny story".
A bit over month ago I checked in on my $600 stimulus check. See, the first one was sent to a joint bank account I had with my ex wife that no longer exists, so I knew that wasn't going to happen.

I hop onto the IRS website and it tells me to use the Get My Payment service they have.
Ok, sounds good.
Only it currently wasn't available right away, come back later.

So I hope back on, at this point shortly after that whole insurrection thing happens. The Get My Payment site is now working.

On the 15th, I am still waiting for my check. My ex had gotten hers at this point. I log onto the Get My Payment site again.
"Your check could take up to three to four weeks from when it's sent."
So a month. Great. Just. Great.

So at the beginning of February... The check is still a no show. I log back into the Get My Payment site.
It now says, "Because your bank account was closed, please submit new bank information to get your deposit."
What happened to my check? You sent one to my ex?

But whatever. Fine. I click on the link to submit my bank information.
"I'm sorry, but you're no longer allowed to change your bank details. You should have done that by the 15th if you wanted to."

So here's where I'm at.
I "might" still get the check in the mail, or I could get it in my tax return.
Only I'm a freelancer. I have to pay IN taxes myself unless I have enough deductibles, which is... Not always a guarantee. So they might keep the $600 to pay it off.

A thing which I could do a payment plan for normally, but since that money is there they will just take it back instead.
And here's the real kicker.
If the check DOES come in after I file my taxes... I can now no longer cash it.
