It's really interesting watching white men who are ostensibly left/progressive get older and turn into, like, libertarian-cryptoconservatives.

This doesn't really happen with BIPOC. BIPOC tend to get more radical. I know I have.

White leftist dudes seem to get more conservative— whether it's empathizing with a white actress for tweeting bigoted shit or making excuses for your racist uncles.

And my theory is it's because white folks don't have enough BIPOC friends in their lives. Actual friends. Not someone you took an Uber with one time.

Someone who talks to you about what THEIR life is like, not just answers your basic questions about hip hop or whatever.

If you and the BIPOC person you call your friend have never really talked about racism. If that friend hasn't shared microagressive experiences with you. Has never really explained to you what their life is like as a BIPOC?

They're not your friend.

This is why you get leftists out here claiming that allying with the Boogaloo Boys isn't that bad of an idea.

Because they don't have a single BIPOC person much less multiple BIPOC people to be like, Bitch what?

So honestly, if you're going to claim to be on the left and to stand for progressive values and you're not one of those leftists who thinks race is unimportant—and there are way too many of you, btw—

will you please diversify your social circles?
