My thoughts on DC introducing yet another Batman book.
I would much prefer them to have a million comic books on every single character in their universe.
But they can't afford it, & they're owned by a company that doesn't want to be in the business.
WB doesn't want to be in the
comic book-selling business.
They want to make money by making movies on comic books, but they don't want to actually make those comics in the first place; they're not interested in that.
To make more titles, DC needs to expand; they need financial backing as a company to hire
more writers, artists, colorists, etc... to make comic books.
But they don't have that backing. Because of that, they've basically been firing people for the last two years.

DC Comics has close to ~230 employees working for them.
Marvel has 1,196 employees working for them.
DC just doesn't have the manpower to expand their company to include more characters.
The only way that Warner won't shut down DC is as long as they(DC) are continuing to make flagship stories for Superman, Wonder Woman, and yes, Batman.
Batman sells because he's the most popular comic book character of all time. Outside of the MCU, no other comic book character has appeared in more movies than him. He sells because of that. Batman's popularity with the average fan who doesn't read comics on a regular basis is
one of the main reasons why they have so many Bat-books.
When an average fan goes to the DC section of their local comic book store, they're not going to want to read a comic about Midnighter because to Warner, if they can't make a movie on a character, they're not going to want
give DC the money to give him an ongoing series.
That average fan IS going to recognize Batman, because he sells. He gets movies made which earn a ton of money which is the only thing that Warner really cares about.
The exception to this is Aquaman & Shazam. They both had amazing movies that made a hell of a lot of money, & they should be featured more. But again, 1 massive movie for Aquaman & Shazam is never going to convice Warner to give DC the financial backing to hire more people &
expand their comics lineup.
I guarantee you that DC doesn't WANT to make 7 Bat-Books, but making those is the only way they're going to convince Warner not to cull them even further.
DC is owned by a company that doesn't think that comic books are worth investing any significant amount of money in, & who don't want to take any sort of risk with new characters.
I can't in good conscience blame DC for this. Every complaint that we have about DC not having a diverse lineup has to go to Warner and AT&T because they don't want to invest in DC in the first place.
This is why I have been saying for months now, that DC HAS to be sold. Whether it be to Disney or someone else, they deserve to be owned by a company that is actually interested in selling comic books & giving DC the financial stability & backing they need to expand their
company & hire more writers, artists, colorists, etc... to create more diverse comic books. As it stands, DC can't compete with Marvel because they don't have the resources or the backing to actually do so.
