Those people freaking out (again) about Anne Boleyn being portrayed by a Black woman were pretty quiet every time Jesus was portrayed as white.
FWIW It’s likely Jesus was olive skinned with black hair, closer to Iraqi Jews today.
Anne Boleyn’s skin colour was not her defining characteristic.
@MissJodie is stunning. I can’t wait to see her in the role.
If her casting troubles you, you’d best avoid @HamiltonMusical.
Just as an FYI, I’m an openly HIV+ gay man so your jibes are unlikely to hurt me - but that doesn’t mean I won’t block if necessary.
If you want to know more about HIV, including that on treatment we can’t pass it on ( #UequalsU), give me a follow.
You (probably) won’t regret it.
While you’re here...
White privilege doesn’t mean that you’ve never faced hardship or challenges. It just means that the hardship or challenges you faced were not related to your skin colour.
@JohnAmaechi says it better than I ever could.
Jodie Turner-Smith’s Anne Boleyn will be featured in a new 3 part series, made by @channel5_tv in the UK, which bears her name.
Nice that it’s Anne focussed, rather than Henry, for a change.
I don’t have more details about the show other than what’s here. https://variety.com/2021/tv/global/jodie-turner-smith-anne-boleyn-1234904830/
