Burnout is a real thing and it is breaking minds and spirits and people, this year more than ever. Employers continue to throw free yoga classes and discount gym memberships at it instead of addressing it as a systemic issue. https://hbr.org/2021/02/beyond-burned-out
Six main causes according to research. See if this reminds you of anywhere you work:

Unsustainable workload
Perceived lack of control
Insufficient rewards for effort
Lack of a supportive community
Lack of fairness
Mismatched values and skills
And in 2020? Brutal.
89% of respondents said their work life was getting worse.
85% said their well-being had declined.
56% said their job demands had increased.
57% of employees felt that the pandemic had a “large effect on” or “completely dominated” their work.
Honestly, I hope this changes but I don't think it will until 1) employers start honestly viewing workers as partners and humans and 2) employees stop fetishizing working themselves into the grave and seeing this as virtuous.
