[chatting/interacting on twitch]
I've seen a few threads advising how to act on twitch but mostly centered around what *not* to do, so I wanted to make a short one centering more on what you *should* do!

note: most of the "rules of conduct" to follow outside of obvious twitch ToS guidelines are just kind of common sense/ empathy-based
I understand though that online and especially with the sort of parasocial relationships people end up in around cc's, people get a bit disconnected from empathetic regular interactions like those we are used to in person
by empathy I mean, most of how you should conduct your behavior is just how you'd want others to act if you were the one streaming
(interest, support, hype, and kindness as opposed to rudeness, focus on other streamers or completely unrelated topics all the time, backseat gaming, and clogging up chat with spam)
that being said, here are a few specifics:
-do: show interest in what the streamer is playing or is chatting about! it's always nice to see people actively engaging with the content, if you were demonstrating something to friends, you'd want them to show interest in what you were doing too
-do: be kind and respectful to others in chat, especially if they are new viewers, since the community is key to a streamer's success- a welcoming chat goes a long way towards viewer retention and engagement, and just provides a better experience for everyone
-do: try to change the subject and redirect attention back to the stream's content if anyone is causing issues in chat (spam, inappropriate messages, etc.), the mods will handle the troublemakers and it's best to redirect chat's attention to the stream itself
-do: message mods if you notice issues being missed, it can definitely happen with large chats/ few active mods/ people can always be in the middle of something else at the time, and this also helps keep issues from being continued in the chat itself
-do: respect the wishes of the streamer and mods if they say something shouldn't be brought up, and maybe even try to participate if the streamer does actively want something
(bttv usage, hyping up during a game, etc)- this again goes back to the empathy thing, response from the chat can really make a huge positive difference to the streamer, which benefits the community in turn
oh and of course
-do: thank people who give you gifted subs, they're not to be taken for granted and are an awesome gift that makes the community better!

this list is by no means exhaustive, but I wanted to just give a few tips for things that can help you understand how to make your (and others) twitch experience better
