Harris says that she cries when she thinks about Labour MPs who lost their seats in 2019 (not about the people who have already suffered and will continue suffering under a Conservative government). But why did they lose those seats? 2/
The MPs she mentions all represented Leave-voting constituencies (margins ranging from 9 to 16%). They all gained votes under Corbyn in 2017 but lost in 2019. 3/

The “vision that nobody wanted to buy”, as Harris calls it, was a second referendum on Brexit. That policy was popular in some parts of Britain, but not in the seats that Labour lost. 4/
When Harris says that Starmer had to “get rid of all that nonsense”, she’s tacitly referring to a policy of which he was the principal architect, which he promptly scrapped as soon as he became leader, whipping to support Johnson’s hard-Brexit deal instead. 5/
Harris is now using the unpopularity of Starmer’s 2019 Brexit policy with Leave voters to justify scrapping a programme of social-democratic reforms that are both urgently needed and demonstrably popular with voters. It’s cynical beyond belief. 6/
