I have said this a few times and I fully believe the church in the next 24-36 months will three challenges that can become great opportunities…
LEANER - as some people simply will not return for various reasons. This should grieve the heart of a true shepherd/pastor. But in that same heartbeat, he should have a burden to strengthen what remains and reach more.
CLEANER - as church leaders remove ministry activities that are more sideways energy now than helping them accomplish their true mission. They will not have the people or finances to keep every ministry idea as before, forcing them to clean up their ministry activities.
MEANER - not in an angry sense but in an emphatic way, churches now can go full steam on the few things that matter most to them. With a cleaner mission and a core group of committed people, the church that does this will end up with less stressed leaders and stronger results.
So, learn to do more with less.
Reengage your community to find those far from God and bring them in.
Clean up and clarify your mission statement and stick to it.
Don’t give in to sideways efforts that do not move the church forward.

Just keep it simple, but go all-in on simple.
