The Bulls are building Portland East. Dame is a combo guard. Dame is 30...Zach is 25, and he’s developing into a very similar player...Insane range, w/ the ability to score from anywhere. Zach today is as good offensively as Dame was at 25.
White is a combo guard, just like CJ McCollum (29 years old). Coby today is better than CJ was at 20. This can work (Cleveland is doing the same thing, w/ 2 combo guards with Garland and Sexton), but you need an elite defender at the 3 who more guard-centric defensively.
Portland's "failures" (relative term in the West) were always due to either injuries or an inability to find this key player to optimize their "combo guards". https://ripcityproject.com/2018/12/27/portland-trail-blazers-perimeter-defense-huge-problem/ JonesJr-Covington acquisitions attempted to address this, but CJ's injury hurt. (Still 14-10)
To the "StartSato" movement...why? Has Zach been hurt w/ Coby? No...career year. Lauri? No, solid year until hurt. Has he hurt PWill? No, great rookie season. Sato is a fine backup, but he proved it last year...he's not a starter. Do you think Coby wants to come off the bench? No
