Apologies that this note didn’t come Tuesday in the aftermath.

Hectic day. Much to do. Lots of emotion to sort. And many (now former) colleagues I needed to talk to.

Believe at the peak, there were 300 unread texts. Wanted to respond to those first. Done that. Took 2.5 days.
If I didn’t reply, assure you it was oversight (your phone contacts disappear and they’re all just numbers 🙄). Text back. I’ll get to you.

Now onto voicemails, then DMs, then tweets. Hoping to respond individually to each. It’s my new full-time job & it’s rewarding.
Thank you to 1040 listeners. You are first and foremost.

There were days when I felt I should be paying you for the privilege of sitting in that chair.

You made us laugh, think, cry, emote and I’m looking forward to reading your parting words.
Already seen some sentiment along lines of “there’s a hole in the city” or “feels like a family member lost.” 🙏

@justBlakePrice @andrewwadden & I tried to create community on the show. You listened, contributed, kept us honest. Made us part of your daily rhythms. Very grateful.
Regrets for the way it went down. I wasn’t naive enough to think you get a farewell with your audience. Media is like sports and show biz, it rarely ends in glory.

Hope and trust we reconvene soon. Already some positive momentum there. Say more in due time.
A radio station needs sponsors and we had great businesses and people we counted as partners and friends. My thanks for your patronage.

Best part of media is the people you get to meet. I worked with some astonishingly talented people at 1040/TSN/CTV both on-air & behind scenes.
Blake and I were the longest-running daily sports-talk radio duo in the country coming up on our 10th anniversary and station’s 20th.

I’d put our lineup of regular guests up against anyone’s. This thread is already long enough to shout all of them out individually. Expect calls
My greatest source of pride was our internship program.

Early in the show’s existence, I asked that every @bcit intern come through our show. I had many mentors/helping hands on my way up, and was resolute about paying it back.
Many S&P interns went on to careers in media/sports. They changed cities, chased dreams, met partners, had kids.

When I see them on social, or better yet when they check-in, my heart fills with pride. If the show was my baby, the interns were grandkids. Keep climbing, kids.
To the institutions we covered: @Canucks @BCLions @WhitecapsFC @WHLGiants @vancanadians @GoBCHL @HastingsRaces and others, thanks for playing ball.

We are occasionally adversaries & I know some of my words over the years landed harshly. Yet I’ve heard from all of you this week.
That I have your respect on my way out the door means the world to me professionally. Thx for being great collaborators & pros.
My sadness this week pales in comparison to that of our Three Wise Men.

1040 founders @TheSportMarket, David Stadnyk and the late Paul Carson (🙏 @iamcarsoni) changed my life & others.
For two decades, with one push of a button, they could check in on a child they delivered to our community.

It destroys me that it died on our watch, and I can only imagine their hollowness. My apologies & my eternal gratitude.
Lastly, there were four people chiefly responsible for my transition from newspapers to radio: Barry Macdonald, Mike Whittingham, Rob Gray and James Stuart.

Afforded me a dream job in a dream city. I’m reflecting fondly on the experience & and on you, gentlemen.
Thx if you read this far down. Now if you’ll excuse me I got calls to make and DMs to return. Please be patient. 🙏
