THREAD: Trump’s defenders will likely use video of Dems, incl @corybooker of all people, in the impeachment trial today to draw false equivalency with Trump’s incitement. I’ve got a few things to say about that. 1/
If you can’t tell the difference between @corybooker giving a pep talk and Donald Trump inciting a violent mob, it’s bc you don’t want to see the difference. Here’s some of the actual context of Booker’s remarks: 2/
Actual words in here: “I see you, I love you… we share a common dignity, we share a common destiny…. there is no future for some Americans and not others… there’s just one American future, and we will never get there unless we see each other.” 3/
This was a speech to the National Conference on Ending Homelessness -- that’s right, hundreds of advocates in town for meetings with their elected representatives. Full video here, I'm not cherry picking. This is the tenor of the whole thing 4/
And just look at what @corybooker incited that day: respectful, sit-down conversations with Republicans and Democrats about getting human beings off the street. Scary stuff

But wait there's more... 6/ https://twitter.com/awitchey/status/1022276649923104768?s=20
It’s more convenient for Trump defenders and their allies (lookin at you @seanhannity) to rip 3 seconds and try to squeeze it into their narrative, though, so you probably haven’t seen all this. Even Fox News' “news” programming has aired this lie on repeat. 7/
This whole thing has been engineered by the very same people who brought you “Cory Booker is coming for the suburbs.” Folks, it’s getting old. And it’s awfully transparent.
