Instead of theologizing justice, we politicize it and end up picking who we will fight to protect, as if the poor, the widow, orphan, and the immigrant are a buffet of options. But God burns righteously for all, and we must as well.
Partisanship pits abortion and religious liberty against racism, immigration, and poverty, as if these things are not all organically connected, and as if Christians can fly a political flag and respond to the call for justice for some but not others.
If your church is truly in your community, it will be full of the ethnic, economic, political, and generational diversity that marks your specific community. And the problems that attach to any given group aren’t out there, but “in here.” They affect your family.
