Let's dead the term "career woman".
Whenever I see that term, I think of my grandma. The one I am named after.
She never worked outside of home.
She never worked outside of home.
But for decades, she ran the home enterprise. She raised babies, while minding the farm, and ensuring my grandfather's tea estate was cared for.
She was both a manager and a worker. She managed the workers that picked tea, kept the farm records etc.
But also, my grandma died with a groove in her head, from decades of carrying a tea basket to the farm almost every day

She raised 10 kids. At some point alone because my granddad was in the forest fighting. At some point she was also arrested for aiding the Mau Mau.
If you asked folk on here, they'd day my grandma was a housewife, and would contrast her with a "career woman".
I saw school dropouts being described as bimbos on here yesterday. My grandma never finished school.

But she created wealth for her husband and her children.
These days when I see the term "career woman" being used to describe women like me, I don't see a compliment. I see a term that's meant to exclude women like my grandma. To reduce their labour and work to zero.

We already know that the concept of stay at home motherhood isn't African. African women worked. And they continue to work.
And even those who work to care for babies, aren't "stay at home", but they're working all day.

We also know that "career man" does not exist.
Because careers are for men
Because careers are for men

So please. The term "career woman" has served it's purpose. Let's end it.
Women work. Some work at home, others work in the office, others work in farms etc. It is all work.
