Firing actors for being conservative is unfair. But Carano wasn't fired for that. She was fired for antagonizing trans people and people of color and Jewish people.

Here's an example of firing someone for being conservative. An actress is let go because she doesn't want to do a nude scene or the writers have decided the devout character she has played for 6 seasons is going to have sex and get an abortion and she doesn't want to act it out.

THAT'S a situation where an employee has been dismissed for adhering to her own personal conservative beliefs and values--values that everyone knew going in from an actress who never harmed or ridiculed anyone else for making different choices. And that's NOT Carano.

When we have these discussions we need to be real specific on what constitutes conservative beliefs. Is it the belief that black people are inferior? Because that's not gonna fly at work. Sorry! You expressing those beliefs makes for a hostile unpleasant workplace.

And frankly if I were a conservative I would be extremely offended if some coworker tried to pass their bigoted trolling off as "conservativism." Nah, don't bring that around me trying to make me look bad! Take your fashy nonsense elsewhere!

Actual social conservatives have a hard time in Hollywood because so many bigots try to sneak under their banner. No one speaks up for them in the true instances where they are preyed upon. Often because those instances usually involve sexual harassment.

But it gets REAL quiet when you talk about that! Because protecting "conservativism" in Hollywood is always about championing someone's right to be a bigot and never about honoring someone's chastity and personal autonomy.

Let me know when someone goes to bat for the social conservatives who think infidelity is wrong and had their careers destroyed because they wouldn't sleep with married executives! I guess you'll all get around to that once you finish coddling aggressive racists and transphobes.
