I've been thinking about these 3 aspects of teamwork:
* communal
* missional
* transactional
Communally, what we do for/with each other makes us all better - it's a 'pool' or 'bank' of merit we all share. There's no rank or accounting here. Our team has different ideas, skills, habits, knowledgebase, etc - and that's the team's property, which we all have in common.
Missionally, what we contribute is impersonal - it's to the success of the mission together. We're not doing what we do "for each other" but "to succeed."
Transactionally, I give to you in anticipation that you will give to me. We invest in our teams so they will invest in us. We share our knowledge and receive other knowledge back. Investing has dividends. We buy help by helping.
The interesting thing is that these are not an either/or thing.
They are all in play at the same time.
Yeah, I know, it's complex and nuanced.
But it's so.
Lacking one or more of these seems to reduce the effectiveness of the team.

What can I read that takes me deeper?
