After months of Cuomo touting NY’s inaccurate count for nursing home resident deaths to show his admin was doing a good job relative to other states, confirmation that NY was fudging the numbers on purpose.
Why? Source on call: Cuomo aide said it was to avoid scrutiny of NY’s nursing home response by the DOJ/Trump, which the Cuomo admin clearly viewed as politically motivated.
Perhaps, but it also had the effect of evading the scrutiny and calls for transparency and accountability from family members whose loved ones died after catching covid in NY nursing homes.
Some of those deaths occurred after a controversial directive by the Cuomo admin about admitting patients suffering covid into nursing homes, a directive the state later rescinded.
