(a thread) Street protests are important and those who are able to join, my great appreciation for them. However, let’s also talk about limitation of street based protests…....
Matters related to sexual violence/ rape can be triggering for many people. To go to the street to ‘protest’ on the same means one putting themselves in unknown situation.

So streets need not be best space to talk about violence for many and THEY DO NOT NEED TO. Period!

Streets are for everyone BUT they aren’t as well.

Street protests aren’t favorable for those with physical disabilities (streets in ktm, no way!), those with responsibility of caring for kids and elderly and for those who are daily wage earners.

There are multiple ways + medium to ‘raise voice’.

Giving emphasis on street as THE ultimate space to protest is faulty. We need to include and acknowledge other ways of ‘protests’.

We all are resisting in some way or the other in our lives, those are also protests.

Internet and social media are important space for those who aren’t able to join the streets.

But they are demotivated and shamed, are called ‘slactivists’ and ‘keyboard warriors’. In addition, state is regulating online spaces more than ever. Let's be cautious of that too
