Posting the screenshot here b/c I think seeing both tweets is important for context. In this market where agents/intermediaries play such a big role, Liverpool focusing on creating a great relationship with agents helps them get much more favorable terms #MUFC
What I've gathered when he says this has helped them become a destination club. If agents are getting paid really well by Liverpool then they're not going to want to piss them off. They're not going to start angling for a move away for one of their clients (ahem Mino) #MUFC
If your client signs a five year contract and you engineer him a big money move away three years later the club's not going to be happy with you and may not sign more of your clients. You don't want that, so you keep them happy #MUFC
Now there's another benefit. If the agents/intermediaries know they're going to get taken care of - no matter how big the the transfer fee is - they're more likely to push clients/clubs in the direction of doing a deal with Liverpool, thus #LFC get better terms #MUFC
For example, last summer Liverpool spent £30m on Thiago and £45m on Diogo Jota... but they only ended up paying £9m up front. The rest will be paid in the next few years. A really friendly deal! Part of that is the COVID climate but that still doesn't happen by accident #MUFC
