The main reason I think Yang has no chance is that he’s running as a Democrat
There’s a reason that Bloomberg — a long time Democrat! — switched his registration to run as a Republican in advance of the 2001 mayoral primaries.
Andrew Yang is either too cocky or not smart enough to realize the folly of what he’s doing.
The NYC Republican Party has historically been less the party of wealthy social conservatives and more the party where you go when you when you want to escape the Democratic machine. See also, John Lindsay, the two term mayor who switched from Republican to Democrat mid-2nd term.
Could Yang win a citywide election for mayor? I mean, probably! But that is VASTLY different from winning the Democratic primary when you’re in the midst of a crowded field.
