Hey actors: you know how you’re still stewing about that ONE audition you blew that haunts you in your dreams? Even if it was YEARS ago? It wasn’t as bad as you remember. And it certainly wasn’t career-ending.
I remember actors who behave like assholes or bring weapons into our offices (with DISTINCT clarity.) And of course I remember the amazing reads and experiences.
But the people who are having a bad day, just don’t have a great read or who are a bit green? Those memories fade.

I can easily recall some “bad” performances and what made them so, but I couldn’t tell you who the actors were who made said choices. Even with taking notes and having a pretty big elephant’s memory, the visual recall is the read/role and not an endless judgment on the performer.
It’s very easy to stew and beat yourself up after an imperfect audition. And I’m not here to tell you how to process your feelings, but I am here to remind you that it’s ok. Unless you behaved like a complete jerk, you’ve not forever ruined your chances with that office.
Bad days happen (especially now.) Know that we understand that you are human, and will give you another chance sometime in the future, (as long as you’re not a dick.)
Process your experience and learn from your mistakes but then try to move on. We have.
