Baton Rouge police dogs bite people at alarming rates, far outpacing peer law enforcement.
In a 3-year period, almost every person bit was Black, more than a third were children. Often, the dogs were during nonviolent, property crimes.

As @MarshallProj has been reporting, police dog bites are serious.
We spoke w children who said, years later, they still have muscle/nerve damage, not to mention lasting trauma from the vicious bites. Advocates ask, for what purpose?

And typically, officers minimize the injuries, barely mentioning in police reports. Children's parents/guardians often aren't notified.
