For those chasing rank, Raheem Sterling in DGW24 is the best triple captaincy option we'll get this season.

Note: As ever, this is situation/risk tolerance dependant.

If you want to play it safe/maintain rank then Kane in DGW26 is likely your best bet.

BUT, if you are chasing rank like me & looking for opportunities then there's not likely to be a better one than Sterling this GW.
If you wanted to go with the crowd with Kane in GW26 then you weaken the power of the TC chip

Most people will captain Kane that week anyway, meaning you are only getting one additional score (1x)

Not ideal if you are chasing rank, with chips your best weapon to do make ground.
In contrast, most serious players are locked into 2 City defenders and Gundo, meaning most don't even own Sterling, let alone have the opportunity to captain him.

Even across the game his ownership is still just 13.2%.

With a TC on Sterling, you will almost get 3x on the crowd.
Sterling is a streaky, confidence player and there is no doubt that he is currently in form, now is the exact type of moment you should be backing him. https://twitter.com/ahopcroft13/status/1359954552284397570?s=20
Not only are the returns there, so are the underlying numbers over the last 4 matches for midfielders:

- Most touches in the box (41!)

- Best mins/xG (111.8)

- Best non-pen xGI

- Only Pepe and Mane have had more shots in the box (10)
Let's get the elephant in the room out of the way:

Rotation risk.

Let's be honest there is always a risk with Pep, but there is _almost_ a pattern in the 4 he's been rested:

BUR, BRI, SHU. 3 "Easy" home games.

Although maybe a little worryingly he also got 20 mins vs tot....
On paper TOT & eve could be considered "hard" games.

However, the recent underlying defensive stats tell a different story.

Both are in the top 6 for most shots conceded in the box over their last 4 matches

CRY 43
BUR 38
TOT 38
WBA 37
AVL 37
EVE 37
And top 6 for expected goals conceded over the last 4:

SOU 8.17
CRY 7.11
TOT 6.20
BUR 6.05
WBA 6.03
EVE 5.92

_And_ let's not forget that TOT and eve just played 120 minutes against each other in the cup, where they conceded 5 and 4 goals respectively....

Poor defensive form.
Conclusion:

We've a low-owned, explosive player in strong form playing two sides who have recently struggled defensively.

The tradeoff is small:

1 extra score from Kane for almost 3 extra from Sterling.

For someone chasing rank, that's the type of opportunity I like to take.
Worst thing about this is I can't watch the game live tomorrow, meaning I will disappear offline until I can watch it in full and with no knowledge of what happened until Sunday morning...
