BFC appointing Marco Pezzaiuoli is an interesting choice.
If you look at his CV it doesn't make you go 'Wow' like Albert Roca did.
The new manager has a great record with youth teams, not so much with senior teams. So, are BFC looking to blood in a lot of youngsters?
Managers who do well with youth teams aren't always great with club sides (same with lots of managers who do well for clubs but aren't great when coaching NTs and vice versa). So it will be interesting to see how he adapts.
However, as we have seen in the past a CV is not the best way to judge players and coaches, especially foreigners coming into Indian football. So many came with great CVs only to disappoint, while people whose CVs don't look great have done really well. Also think Pep at Barca.
Now coming to BFC and Marco, a lot will depend on player recruitment as BFC need a major overhaul in both the Indian and foreign player dept. As a youth coach he should do well with youngsters like Leon, Suresh, Parag etc.
However, one concern I have with youth team coaches is that they are strict disciplinarians, works with young players, but doesn't work as well with senior pros. Handling the egos of big name players is different from dealing with obedient kids.
But, overall looks like a really interesting appointment, and of all the BFC coaches, probably he has the toughest task as he has to rebuild along with that achieve success. Ashley started with a blank canvass, Roca built on Ashley's work. All the best to him and everyone at BFC.
