Not to let facts get in the way of a mediocre argument, what I said was “Our fleet is moving to EVs” (ie started & is ongoing) & , later, “our pool vehicles will be entirely
EVs by 2024” (many already are). If any council in Suffolk is lagging on 💚🌍 agenda, it’s Ipswich. https://twitter.com/sandyofipswich/status/1359889243850563588
I think in these scenarios, it’s only fair to give examples...they’re the only local authority not to pay into the Suffolk Climate Change Partnership which, working with the University of Suffolk, wants Suffolk to be an “exemplar in tackling climate change”.
They consistently miss house building targets, meaning greater strain on neighbouring districts and more people commuting into, rather than living in, Ipswich.
They’re buying 10 new diesel dustbin lorries despite other Councillors pleading with them to wait for alternative fuelled options (close to market) or follow the Mid Suffolk example of converting to HVO vehicles.
But it’s all fine, because their idea of encouraging modal shift is creating new 7 level multi-storey car parks. I’m sure @sammurraytory, @confidencenac, @CrusaderIan and others can think of further examples...
